There have been a lot of controversies concerning the aspect of stem cell research whether it should be conducted or not. Some people state that stem cell research should not be conducted since it leads to destruction of embryos as can be seen from the lawsuits that have been filed in the United States of America. In the recent world, the aspect of stem cell research has received a lot of support from different people especially from the findings of Ernest McCulloch and James Till. On this basis, therefore it would be ethical to conduct stem cell research if there is a possibility of saving and preserving life by offering treatments of diseases like HIV AIDS, Cancer, Heart Diseases, and Leukemia. In this case, if the adult embryo is not tampered with; then stem cell research would be of great importance in providing solutions to the above mentioned diseases. As indicated by Humber and Almeder (2004), life is very precious to all people and hence any research that helps in preserving it should be supported.

Researchers have put forward that HIV AIDs patients can be healed through the process of stem cell transplant and hence it should be encouraged. Additionally, as indicated by Atala (2008) people who had been sick for a long period of time can be healed through stem cell transplant from an individual with rare gene alternative that usually resist this disease. Despite the fact that the opponents of stem cell research state that this research offers false promises, this research is very essentials as it has been offered to offer treatments to people with Leukemia, Cancer, Heart Diseases, and HIV AIDS.

In order to understand the importance of the stem cell research, a secondary research is conducted on some materials concerning this topic. In this case, from a research on the Atala (2008) book the results indicated that there is no point of observing people to die from Cancer and Leukemia diseases and there is a possibility of treating them. On this basis, stem cell research should be heavily supported by the federal and state government. On the other hand, this book indicated that researchers carrying out stem cell research should be very careful not to destroy the embryos that are conceived naturally.

As depicted by Panno (2005), since stem cell research helps people to understand the causes of some diseases like multiple sclerosis and cancer; it is of great significant to support. From this book it can be deduced that support of stem cell research will help in relieving many people from diseases. In this case, many opponents of stem cell research rely on flawed reasoning concerning the issue as they do not have supportive data to support their arguments. This is because stem cell researchers usually do not tamper with the natural embryos in the human bodies.

According to Humber and Almeder (2004), stem cell research sheds lights in the future researches on causes and treatments of different diseases. In this case therefore, supporting stem cell research is a way of supporting future researches. On this basis, many people have died from diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis and others are suffering from the same diseases hence it would be of great importance if there are people studying on how to cure them. This is because in the United States of America there are more people who are in need of body organs than those who are ready to donate them.

As indicated by Freckelton and Petersen (2006) in their book on Disputes and Dilemmas in Health Law, there are a number of people who critically oppose the aspect of stem cell research. They base their arguments on the assumption that stem cell researches result in taking away people’s lives as embryos are usually tampered with in the process. This is not a fact as these researches have been found very significant not only in medical field but also in treating patients with Leukemia and Cancer diseases. According to the authors of this book, it is of great importance for the government to be committed in supporting financially stem cell researches rather than allowing people to die of diseases that can be possibly cured. On this basis, university students studying biological and medical courses should be introduced to the knowledge of conducting stem cell researches in order to preserve and save live of many people suffering from curable diseases.

From the above aspects, my position in stem cell research is that it is very productive as can be seen from the secondary research conducted on this topic. It should be noted that since stem cell research helps in treating various diseases, it should be encouraged and supported not only by the federal and state governments but also by the entire community members. The opponents of this aspect should know that many people are dying from diseases that can be cured through the solutions provided by the stem cell researchers conducted.
